Thoughts of Rothbury and Electric Forest Festival

This weekend in Rothbury, Michigan is the Electric Forest festival. MTT hasn’t been back to the Double JJ Ranch (or whatever it’s called these days) since the second year of ROTHBURY. From the looks of the pictures, it has the same organic, and great feel that ROTHBURY had.

Sure, the other festivals may have bigger names on their lineup, but we’ve yet to see a festival with a better atmosphere than at the Double JJ. Not only is it light out until almost ten pm, the weather is amazing (jeans and hoodies at night during a summer festival?!), and NOTHING in the US festival scene beats the amenity combo of the beyond trippy Sherwoood Forest, and the lakefront beach/Wagon Wheel venue. NOTHING. No Silent Disco, nor Comedy Tent, nor giant ferris wheel can beat those amenities. Need some cool down time? Grab yourself a drink and sit on the beach while listening to great music.

And the Sherwood Forest? It’s trippy even when you haven’t done any “party enhancers.”. There are multiple paths through the forest with places to chill out, hammocks, hidden venues, etc… Let alone the fact that you are on sensory overload from the moment you lay eyes on the lasers and lights that illuminate the forest.

There are a million reasons to make it to Rothbury, Michigan for Electric Forest. If you’re already there, have a blast and be safe… If not, you need to go in the years to come, and hopefully we’ll make our triumphant return!
