Twenty years ago, GWAR went to Hell and made it a rock opera. Now that trip is getting the deluxe treatment it always deserved.
Beyond Hell, the 2006 concept record about Satan trying to wipe out GWAR, just got a 20th anniversary reissue, out September 25 on the band's own Pit Records. Paul Logus handled the remaster, there is a previously unreleased outro from the original sessions, and for the first time ever the album is on vinyl. All three vinyl variants sold out before release day, which tells you everything about this fanbase.

produced by Devin Townsend, who has said he cornered Dave Brockie on tour and basically offered to work for free to get the gig. That story alone is worth the price of the vinyl.

I sat down with Dave Brockie, a.k.a. Oderus Urungus, back in the day, and he was exactly the chaotic genius you would hope for. This reissue is a proper tribute to that legacy. Go to Hell has never sounded better.
