Japanese Breakfast cleared the storm clouds over Bonnaroo

After a three-hour storm evacuation, Michelle Zauner took the What Stage in an iridescent outfit as the sun came out. The perfect welcome-back set.

Sunday afternoon at Bonnaroo was a mess. A line of heavy thunderstorms forced a full evacuation of Centeroo around 2:15, the skies opened up, and for three hours everyone sat in cars and tents wondering if the weekend was about to end the way 2025 did.

Then the gates reopened at 5:15, and Japanese Breakfast walked onto the What Stage as the sun came out. Here comes the sun, literally.

Michelle Zauner stepped out in an iridescent outfit that caught the post-storm light, and the band delivered a masterclass in dream-pop showmanship. Her songs have a way of making a giant festival field feel personal, and after three hours of weather alerts, that connection was exactly what the soggy crowd needed.

It was the welcome:

back party Sunday deserved. The storm tried to end the weekend. Japanese Breakfast said not today.
