Mk.gee did not have his own set at Coachella. He did not need one.
Friday, he walked out during Dijon's Outdoor Theatre set, his first time performing at the festival in any official capacity, and ripped through Talk Down, Higher!, and Big Mike's. At one point there were five guitarists on stage at once inside an eight-piece band, stretching Dijon's songs into something bigger and weirder than the records. Saturday, he showed back up in Bieber's headline set for Daisies.
This is what a real creative partnership looks like. He co-wrote most of Dijon's Baby and Absolutely, Dijon worked on his Two Star & the Dream Police, and both of them are all over Bieber's SWAG records.
The guitar hero of the weekend, and his name was not on the poster. Remember it anyway.
